Description
A quick and delicious recipe for Thai Basil Beef Rolls that can be prepared in just 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves, chopped
- 8 large rice paper wrappers
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup cucumber, julienned
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is well combined and the beef is cooked through. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped Thai basil.
- Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10-15 seconds until it softens.
- Lay the softened wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place a small amount of the beef mixture, shredded carrots, cucumber, and cilantro in the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Serve the rolls immediately with your choice of dipping sauce, such as hoisin or peanut sauce.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with crumbled tofu or tempeh and adjust the sauces accordingly.
- Add sliced bell peppers or avocado for extra crunch and flavor in the rolls.
