Description

A quick and delicious recipe for Thai Basil Beef Rolls that can be prepared in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves, chopped
  • 8 large rice paper wrappers
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup cucumber, julienned
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is well combined and the beef is cooked through. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped Thai basil.
  4. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10-15 seconds until it softens.
  5. Lay the softened wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place a small amount of the beef mixture, shredded carrots, cucumber, and cilantro in the center of the wrapper.
  6. Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  7. Serve the rolls immediately with your choice of dipping sauce, such as hoisin or peanut sauce.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with crumbled tofu or tempeh and adjust the sauces accordingly.
  • Add sliced bell peppers or avocado for extra crunch and flavor in the rolls.
