Description

Celebrate the 4th of July with these festive and delicious Rice Krispie Treats, perfect for any summer gathering!

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles (for decoration)
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 cup blueberries (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  2. Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture, stirring until well combined and all the cereal is coated.
  3. If using, gently fold in the chopped strawberries and blueberries for added color and flavor.
  4. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter. Pour the mixture into the dish and press it down evenly with a spatula or your hands.
  5. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Once set, cut into squares or rectangles.
  6. Before serving, sprinkle the red, white, and blue sprinkles on top for a festive touch.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, try adding a layer of melted white chocolate on top before sprinkling with decorations.
  • You can substitute the strawberries and blueberries with other red and blue fruits like raspberries and blackberries for a different flavor profile.
