- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
For the Mushroom Gravy
- 2 cups mushroom gravy (store-bought or homemade)
For Garnish
- Fresh parsley (chopped), optional
Instructions
- Preheat Your Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish. - Make the Hamburger Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined, but don’t overmix. - Shape the Patties:
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into an oval patty, about 1 inch thick. - Assemble in the Baking Dish:
Arrange the patties in the prepared baking dish, leaving space between each. - Add the Mushroom Gravy:
Pour the mushroom gravy evenly over the patties, covering them completely. - Bake the Steaks:
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25–30 minutes, until the beef is fully cooked and the gravy is bubbling. - Rest and Garnish:
Let the dish rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- The beef patties should remain juicy if you don’t overmix the beef.
- Add extra flavor to the gravy by sautéing mushrooms or onions before pouring it over the patties.
- For a spicier kick, consider adding cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to the beef mixture.
