Description

A delicious and cozy Avocado Bacon Grilled Cheese sandwich that combines creamy avocado, crispy bacon, and melted cheeses for the ultimate comfort food experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of artisan bread
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 ounces aged gouda cheese, shredded
  • 3 ounces fontina cheese, shredded
  • 1 ripe avocado, diced
  • 3 strips of crispy bacon, chopped
  • Fresh herbs (like basil or cilantro) for garnish
  • Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Drizzle the olive oil onto one side of each slice of artisan bread, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  2. Place one slice of bread, oil side down, in the skillet. Sprinkle a generous layer of gouda and fontina cheese over the bread.
  3. Evenly distribute the diced avocado and chopped bacon on top of the melted cheese. Season with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper to enhance the flavors.
  4. Cover with the second slice of bread, oil side up. Allow it to cook gently for about 4-5 minutes, or until the bottom is beautifully golden and the cheese starts to ooze.
  5. Carefully flip the sandwich with a spatula, pressing down slightly, and cook for another 4-5 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is completely melted.
  6. Once cooked, transfer the sandwich to a cutting board, let it rest for a minute, and then slice it in half. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a smear of pesto or a slice of tomato.
  • Experiment with different bread types, such as ciabatta or rye, for a delightful twist.
