Description
BBQ Chicken Grilled Cheese is a delicious and satisfying sandwich that combines tender shredded chicken coated in barbecue sauce with melted cheese, all grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 8 slices of bread (your choice)
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 slices of mozzarella cheese
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken and barbecue sauce. Stir until the chicken is well coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. While the skillet is heating, butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place four slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
- Layer each slice with a slice of cheddar cheese, followed by a generous portion of the BBQ chicken mixture, and then a slice of mozzarella cheese.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom slice is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before slicing in half.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix in some chopped green onions or jalapeños into the BBQ chicken mixture.
- Use different types of cheese, such as pepper jack for a spicy kick or gouda for a smoky flavor.
