Description
Delicious and easy-to-make Blackberry Goat Cheese Puff Pastry Twists, perfect for a delightful appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 4 ounces goat cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup fresh blackberries, mashed
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened goat cheese, mashed blackberries, honey, and thyme (if using) until well combined.
- Take one strip of puff pastry and spread a thin layer of the blackberry and goat cheese mixture along the center. Fold the pastry over to encase the filling and twist the ends in opposite directions to create a spiral shape. Place the twisted pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
- Repeat the process with the remaining strips of pastry and filling. Brush the tops of the twists with the beaten egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter twist, add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the sugar before baking.
- To make it savory, substitute the blackberries with caramelized onions and add a pinch of salt to the goat cheese mixture.
