Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 1 cup milk (warm, about 110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the Filling:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and melted butter. Add the yeast mixture and stir.
- Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour and salt until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for 8 minutes by hand or 5 minutes in a stand mixer until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling
- In a bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a smooth paste.
- Roll Out the Dough
- Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×18-inch rectangle.
- Add the Filling and Blueberries
- Spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle fresh blueberries on top.
- Shape the Rolls
- Roll the dough tightly into a log from the long edge. Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Second Rise
- Cover the rolls and let them rise again for 30–45 minutes, or until puffy.
- Bake the Rolls
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Make the Cream Cheese Glaze
- In a bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Adjust the milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Glaze the Rolls
- Spread the cream cheese glaze over the warm rolls and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a citrusy twist, add a tablespoon of lemon zest to the glaze.
- Make-ahead option: Prepare the rolls and refrigerate overnight before baking. Let them come to room temperature before baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
