Description
Cheese Puffs are fluffy, cheesy treats that are easy to make and perfect for snacking.
Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until well combined.
- Add the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the cheese mixture. Stir until the ingredients are just combined.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Gradually add this mixture to the cheese and flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Using a tablespoon or a small cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese puffs are golden brown and puffed up.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a twist, try adding cooked and crumbled bacon or chopped herbs like chives or parsley to the dough for extra flavor.
- You can also experiment with different types of cheese, such as pepper jack for a spicy kick or mozzarella for a milder taste.
