A delicious recipe for crispy cheese sticks made with mozzarella, perfect for snacking or as an appetizer.
Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Take a handful of shredded mozzarella cheese (about 1 ounce) and shape it into a stick.
- Dip the cheese stick into the flour mixture, coating it evenly. Shake off any excess flour.
- Next, dip the floured cheese stick into the beaten eggs, ensuring it is fully coated.
- Finally, roll the cheese stick in the breadcrumbs until it is completely covered. Repeat this process with the remaining cheese.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Carefully add a few cheese sticks to the hot oil, frying them for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- Remove the cheese sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

- For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture.
