Description

A delicious recipe for crispy cheese sticks made with mozzarella, perfect for snacking or as an appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
  2. In another bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
  3. Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  4. Take a handful of shredded mozzarella cheese (about 1 ounce) and shape it into a stick.
  5. Dip the cheese stick into the flour mixture, coating it evenly. Shake off any excess flour.
  6. Next, dip the floured cheese stick into the beaten eggs, ensuring it is fully coated.
  7. Finally, roll the cheese stick in the breadcrumbs until it is completely covered. Repeat this process with the remaining cheese.
  8. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  9. Carefully add a few cheese sticks to the hot oil, frying them for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  10. Remove the cheese sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  11. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Try using different types of cheese, such as cheddar or pepper jack, for a unique flavor twist.
