Description
A delicious and comforting casserole combining the flavors of cheeseburgers and tater tots.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 bag (32 ounces) frozen tater tots
- 1/4 cup chopped pickles (optional)
- 1/4 cup ketchup (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onion and minced garlic until the beef is fully cooked and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and half of the cheddar cheese. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the sour cream and cream of mushroom soup until well combined.
- In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom.
- Pour the sour cream mixture over the beef, spreading it out evenly.
- Top with the frozen tater tots in a single layer.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top, and if desired, add chopped pickles.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle with ketchup before serving. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
