Ingredients
For the Taco Sticks:
- Ground beef (1 lb) – Provides the hearty, flavorful filling.
- Taco seasoning mix (1 packet) – Adds that signature taco flavor.
- Pillsbury Pizza Dough (1 tube) – The flaky dough for wrapping around the filling.
- Colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks (5 sticks, halved) – The cheesy, melty center.
- Butter (4 tbsp, melted) – For brushing the taco sticks to create a golden crust.
- Garlic powder (1 tsp) – Enhances the flavor of the buttery topping.
- Dried parsley (1 tsp) – Adds a touch of flavor and color to the topping.
Optional Dipping Sauces:
- Salsa (adds a zesty kick)
- Guacamole (creamy and rich)
- Sour cream (balances the flavors with a cool, tangy touch)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the taco sticks from sticking.
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat and stir in the taco seasoning mix. Set aside.
- Prepare the Dough:
- Roll out the Pillsbury Pizza Dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 10 equal rectangles, ensuring each piece is large enough to wrap around the filling.
- Assemble the Taco Sticks:
- Spoon a small portion of the seasoned beef onto each rectangle of dough. Place a halved cheese stick on top of the beef, then roll the dough around the filling, pinching the edges tightly to seal. Place the taco sticks seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush with Garlic Butter:
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and dried parsley. Brush the garlic butter generously over each taco stick.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked through.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Allow the taco sticks to cool slightly before serving. Pair them with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping.
Notes
- Seal Tightly: Ensure the edges of the dough are pinched tightly to prevent the cheese from oozing out.
- Don’t Overfill: Use a small amount of beef and cheese to make wrapping easier.
- Customize the Fillings: Add diced jalapeños, black beans, or corn for extra flavor.
- Make It Spicy: Sprinkle red pepper flakes into the beef mixture or use spicy taco seasoning.
