Description

A quick and delicious Chicken Chow Mein recipe featuring stir-fried chicken and fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 4 cups bean sprouts
  • 2 cups napa cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, cut into thin strips
  • 1 cup bell pepper, cut into thin slices
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 ounces chow mein noodles, prepared as per package instructions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Warm the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until aromatic.
  3. Introduce the shredded chicken, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes until warmed through.
  4. Incorporate the napa cabbage, carrots, bell pepper, and green onions, stir-frying for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are vibrant and slightly tender.
  5. Fold in the bean sprouts and pre-cooked chow mein noodles, mixing everything together.
  6. Drizzle the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil over the stir-fry, tossing until evenly coated and heated for about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as desired.
  8. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian twist, swap the chicken for tofu and use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
  • Add a splash of chili sauce or sriracha for heat.
  • Mix in additional vegetables like broccoli or snap peas for added nutrition.
