  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the batter rest for about 30 minutes at room temperature.
  5. In a deep pot or fryer, heat oil to 350°F. Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying a few donuts at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still warm, dust with powdered sugar.
  7. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
