Description

A creamy and flavorful Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque that is perfect for seafood lovers.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups seafood stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cooked crab meat, shredded
  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
  2. Stir in the flour and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  3. Gradually whisk in the seafood stock, ensuring there are no lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, crab meat, shrimp, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer gently for another 5-7 minutes, until the seafood is heated through.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a spicier bisque, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce.
  • You can substitute the crab and shrimp with lobster or scallops for a different seafood flavor.
