Description
A creamy and flavorful Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque that is perfect for seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups seafood stock
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup cooked crab meat, shredded
- 1 cup cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the flour and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Gradually whisk in the seafood stock, ensuring there are no lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, crab meat, shrimp, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer gently for another 5-7 minutes, until the seafood is heated through.
- Stir in the lemon juice and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
Notes
- For a spicier bisque, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce.
- You can substitute the crab and shrimp with lobster or scallops for a different seafood flavor.
