This indulgent dish features a bread boule filled with gooey Brie cheese, topped with tart cranberry sauce and fresh thyme, then baked to golden perfection. Ingredients
- 1 round loaf (bread boule)
- Cooking spray (to crisp the bread)
- 1 (8-ounce) wheel of Brie cheese
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Bread
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut a circular opening in the top of the bread boule and set the top aside.
- Hollow out the inside of the bread, leaving a 1-inch wall around the edges to create a sturdy bowl. Reserve the removed bread pieces for dipping.
Step 2: Add the Brie and Cranberry Sauce
- Place the Brie wheel into the hollowed-out bread boule.
- Spoon the cranberry sauce evenly over the top of the Brie, spreading it gently to cover the surface.
Step 3: Garnish and Prepare for Baking
- Sprinkle the chopped fresh thyme over the cranberry sauce for an aromatic garnish.
- Lightly spray the outside of the bread boule with cooking spray to ensure it crisps during baking.
Step 4: Bake to Golden Perfection
- Place the bread boule on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the Brie is melted and the bread is golden brown.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Remove the bread boule from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Serve with the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or sliced vegetables for dipping.
Notes
- Make It Sweeter: Add a drizzle of honey over the cranberry sauce before baking for a touch of sweetness.
- Switch the Toppings: Swap cranberry sauce for fig jam, raspberry preserves, or apricot jam for a different flavor profile.
- Go Nutty: Add chopped pecans or walnuts on top for extra crunch.
- Leftover Bread Tip: Toast the hollowed-out bread pieces for crispy dipping sticks.
