Ingredients
- 3 chicken breasts
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 cup chicken broth or water
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken
- Pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
2. Sear the Chicken
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken breasts and sear for 5–7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
3. Sauté the Aromatics
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and finely chopped onion, cooking until the onion becomes soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
4. Create the Sauce
- Pour in the lemon juice and chicken broth (or water), stirring to combine.
- Simmer for 5 minutes to let the flavors meld and the sauce slightly reduce.
5. Combine and Cook
- Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet.
- Spoon the sauce over the chicken, reduce the heat to low, and let simmer for 5–10 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
6. Serve
- Serve the chicken hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired. Pair it with sides like mashed potatoes, rice, or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
- For a richer sauce, stir in ½ cup of heavy cream or coconut milk.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to maintain the sauce’s consistency.
