Description

Crying Tiger Beef is a flavorful dish featuring marinated flank steak, cooked to perfection and garnished with fresh herbs and lime.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Remove the beef from the marinade, letting excess marinade drip off.
  6. Add the beef to the skillet in a single layer, cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  7. Once cooked, remove the beef from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
  8. Serve the beef garnished with chopped cilantro and green onions, alongside lime wedges for squeezing over the top.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add sliced fresh chili peppers to the marinade.
  • To make it a complete meal, serve the beef over jasmine rice or with a side of steamed vegetables.
