- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 2–3 teaspoons milk (optional, for consistency)
- White chocolate chips (optional, for drizzle)
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for drizzle)
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for drizzle)
- Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line two baking trays with parchment paper and set them aside.
Step 2: Cream the Butter and Sugar
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using a hand or stand mixer.
- Beat for 2–3 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Step 3: Add Vanilla and Egg
- Add the vanilla extract and egg to the creamed mixture.
- Mix until smooth and well-combined.
Step 4: Incorporate the Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring at low speed until the dough forms.
- If the dough feels crumbly, add milk 1 teaspoon at a time until it reaches a smooth consistency.
Step 5: Shape the Cookies
- Use a spoon or small cookie scoop to take portions of dough and roll them into smooth balls.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking trays, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Gently press each ball with your fingers or the bottom of a glass to flatten slightly.
Step 6: Bake the Cookies
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking trays for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 7: Prepare the Chocolate Drizzle (Optional)
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white or semi-sweet chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth.
- Add a teaspoon of coconut oil for a silky consistency.
Step 8: Decorate the Cookies
- Using a spoon or piping bag, drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled cookies.
- Add sprinkles immediately for a festive look before the chocolate sets.
