Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 23 teaspoons milk (optional, for consistency)
  • White chocolate chips (optional, for drizzle)
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for drizzle)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for drizzle)
  • Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line two baking trays with parchment paper and set them aside.

Step 2: Cream the Butter and Sugar

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using a hand or stand mixer.
  2. Beat for 2–3 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Step 3: Add Vanilla and Egg

  1. Add the vanilla extract and egg to the creamed mixture.
  2. Mix until smooth and well-combined.

Step 4: Incorporate the Dry Ingredients

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
  2. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring at low speed until the dough forms.
  3. If the dough feels crumbly, add milk 1 teaspoon at a time until it reaches a smooth consistency.

Step 5: Shape the Cookies

  1. Use a spoon or small cookie scoop to take portions of dough and roll them into smooth balls.
  2. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking trays, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  3. Gently press each ball with your fingers or the bottom of a glass to flatten slightly.

Step 6: Bake the Cookies

  1. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking trays for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 7: Prepare the Chocolate Drizzle (Optional)

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white or semi-sweet chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth.
  2. Add a teaspoon of coconut oil for a silky consistency.

Step 8: Decorate the Cookies

  1. Using a spoon or piping bag, drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled cookies.
  2. Add sprinkles immediately for a festive look before the chocolate sets.
