Description
Creamy, tangy, and irresistibly delicious, Deviled Eggs are the ultimate appetizer for any occasion. Whether you’re hosting a party, attending a potluck, or craving a savory snack, this classic recipe is quick, easy, and customizable with your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
- 12 hard-boiled eggs (made on the stovetop or in the Instant Pot)
- 1/3 cup mayo (or plain Greek yogurt)
- 1 tablespoon freshly-squeezed lemon juice (or vinegar)
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Sea salt, to taste
- Freshly-cracked black pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: smoked paprika, chopped fresh chives
Instructions
1. Hard-Boil the Eggs
Prepare 12 hard-boiled eggs using your preferred method (stovetop or Instant Pot). Once cooked, transfer the eggs to an ice bath and let them cool for 10 minutes.
2. Peel the Eggs
Carefully peel the eggs, ensuring the whites remain intact. Rinse the eggs under cool water to remove any leftover shell fragments.
3. Slice the Eggs
Slice each egg in half lengthwise. Gently scoop out the yolks and place them in a mixing bowl. Arrange the egg whites on a serving tray.
4. Prepare the Filling
Mash the egg yolks with a fork until smooth. Add the mayo, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Mix until the filling is creamy and well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
5. Fill the Egg Whites
Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture into the egg white halves. Use a piping bag with a star tip for a decorative touch, or simply use a spoon for a rustic look.
6. Add Toppings
Sprinkle the deviled eggs with smoked paprika and garnish with freshly chopped chives for a burst of flavor and color.
7. Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the deviled eggs for at least 20 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled and enjoy!
Notes
- Make Ahead: You can prepare the egg whites and filling separately up to 24 hours in advance. Assemble just before serving.
- Customize the Flavor: Add a splash of hot sauce, pickle juice, or Worcestershire sauce for a unique twist.
- Egg Peeling Tip: Use eggs that are a few days old for easier peeling.
