Description

A delicious and easy recipe for blackened salmon topped with a creamy Dijon sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the salmon fillets.
  4. Add the olive oil to the hot skillet.
  5. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down.
  6. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and has a blackened crust.
  7. While the salmon is cooking, prepare the creamy Dijon sauce by whisking together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and honey in a small bowl.
  8. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Once the salmon is done, remove it from the skillet and let it rest for a minute.
  10. Serve the salmon with a generous drizzle of the creamy Dijon sauce on top.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, increase the cayenne pepper in the spice mix.
  • To make it lighter, substitute Greek yogurt for mayonnaise in the sauce.
