A simple and delicious recipe for unstuffed cabbage rolls made in a crockpot, perfect for busy nights.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 head green cabbage, chopped
- 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onion and minced garlic until the meat is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large crockpot, layer the chopped cabbage, followed by the cooked beef mixture.
- Pour the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth over the top.
- Sprinkle the uncooked rice, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper evenly over the mixture.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the cabbage is tender and the rice is fully cooked.
- Stir the mixture gently before serving to combine all ingredients. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
