  • Author: Annabel
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 18 cookies

Description

These Hershey’s Red Velvet Blossom Cookies are festive, delicious, and incredibly easy to make! With a vibrant red hue, a hint of cocoa, and the perfect touch of chocolate from a Hershey’s Kiss, they’re the ultimate holiday treat. Whether you’re gifting, baking for a party, or enjoying them with a cup of cocoa, these cookies will make your celebrations even sweeter.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 7 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted), softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring gel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For Assembly:

  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey’s chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

1. Preheat Your Oven

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the vanilla extract, egg yolk, and red food coloring. Mix until evenly combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.

3. Shape the Cookies

  • Scoop 1-tablespoon portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  • Roll each dough ball in red sanding sugar, coating them completely.

4. Bake the Cookies

  • Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are slightly puffed.

5. Add the Hershey’s Kisses

  • Immediately press an unwrapped Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie while they’re still warm.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for a vibrant red hue without thinning the dough.
  • Work quickly when adding the Hershey’s Kisses so they stick to the cookies.
  • For even baking, use a cookie scoop to portion the dough evenly.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze them for up to 3 months.
