Description
A delightful appetizer featuring crispy baguette slices topped with a creamy garlic herb cheese and elegant smoked salmon.
Ingredients
- 1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces smoked salmon, thinly sliced
- Capers, for garnish
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake the baguette slices for 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, minced garlic, dill, chives, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well blended and creamy.
- Spread a generous layer of the garlic herb cream cheese mixture onto each toasted baguette slice.
- Top each crostini with a slice of smoked salmon, folding it elegantly if desired.
- Garnish with capers and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
Notes
- For a twist, add a thin slice of cucumber on top of the smoked salmon for extra crunch and freshness.
- Substitute the smoked salmon with smoked trout or a vegetarian option like roasted red peppers for a different flavor profile.
