Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 10 tablespoons butter, melted

For the Filling:

  • 16 ounces whipped cream (or whipped topping)
  • 1 box (3 ounces) red jello mix
  • 1 box (3 ounces) green jello mix
  • 2 cups boiling water (divided)
  • 1 cup cold water (divided)
  • Few drops of red food dye (optional, for enhanced vibrancy)
  • Few drops of green food dye (optional, for enhanced vibrancy)

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Extra whipped cream
  • Gold sanding sugar

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Crust

  • In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs with melted butter until the crumbs are evenly coated and resemble wet sand.
  • Firmly press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish, forming an even crust.
  • Place the crust in the refrigerator to firm up while you prepare the jello layers.

Step 2: Make the Red Jello Layer

  • In a mixing bowl, dissolve the red jello mix in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved.
  • Add ½ cup of cold water and stir gently. For a brighter red color, mix in a few drops of red food dye.
  • Allow the mixture to cool for about 10–15 minutes.
  • Gently fold in 8 ounces of whipped cream, mixing until the jello is smooth and fluffy.
  • Pour the red jello mixture over the chilled graham cracker crust, spreading it evenly.
  • Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or until the red layer is set.

Step 3: Make the Green Jello Layer

  • In a separate mixing bowl, dissolve the green jello mix in the remaining 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until the jello is fully dissolved.
  • Add the remaining ½ cup of cold water. For a more vibrant green color, stir in a few drops of green food dye.
  • Let the mixture cool slightly, then fold in the remaining 8 ounces of whipped cream. Mix gently to ensure a smooth consistency.
  • Once the red layer is set, carefully pour the green jello mixture over the top, spreading it evenly.
  • Return the pie to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2–3 hours, or until the green layer is fully set.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

  • When the pie is fully set, garnish it with additional whipped cream, piped or spread on top, if desired.
  • Sprinkle gold sanding sugar or festive holiday decorations over the whipped cream for a sparkling finish.
  • Slice the pie into even wedges and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Custom Colors: Feel free to swap out the red and green jello flavors for other colors to match different celebrations (e.g., blue and white for winter).
  • Food Dye: While optional, the food dye enhances the vibrancy of the jello layers and makes the dessert more festive.
  • Storage: Store the pie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Layering Tip: Allow each layer to fully set before adding the next to maintain clear, distinct layers.
  • Whipped Cream Substitute: You can use freshly whipped cream if you prefer a homemade touch instead of store-bought whipped topping.
