Description
A delicious and easy-to-make Fresh Caprese Sandwich featuring fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
Ingredients
- 1 large ciabatta roll or baguette
- 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Slice the ciabatta roll or baguette in half horizontally.
- Drizzle the inside of both halves with olive oil.
- Layer the fresh mozzarella slices evenly on the bottom half of the bread.
- Add the tomato slices on top of the mozzarella.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over the tomatoes to enhance flavor.
- Place the fresh basil leaves on top of the tomatoes.
- Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the basil.
- Close the sandwich with the top half of the bread and press down gently.
- For a warm sandwich, grill it in a panini press or on a skillet for 3-5 minutes until the cheese is slightly melted.
- Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding a layer of pesto sauce on the bread before assembling the sandwich.
- Substitute the fresh mozzarella with burrata cheese for a creamier texture.
