- 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and diced

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the diced peaches and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed in the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
