Soft, fluffy, and bursting with savory garlic herb flavor, these dinner rolls are the perfect addition to any meal. Whether you’re serving them with soup, salad, or a hearty entrée, these homemade rolls will steal the show. Easy to make and customizable with your favorite herbs or cheese, they’re a must-have for family dinners or holiday feasts.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix milk, olive oil, garlic, parsley, oregano, and pepper.
  • Add wet ingredients and yeast mixture to the flour. Mix until dough forms.
  • Knead dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape into balls and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Beat egg and brush over rolls for a golden finish.

  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can add ½ cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or Parmesan) for a cheesy twist.
  • Try rosemary, thyme, or basil in place of parsley and oregano for different flavors.
  • Rolls can be frozen after baking and reheated in the oven.
