Ingredients

For the patties:

  • 450 g minced meat
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 slices of stale bread
  • 250 ml milk
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg
  • Parsley, chopped
  • 150 g cheese, grated
  • 100 g breadcrumbs

For frying:

  • Vegetable oil

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Bread Mixture

  • Soak the slices of stale bread in milk until fully softened.
  • Squeeze out the excess milk and crumble the bread into a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Make the Meat Mixture

  • Add the minced meat, chopped onion, grated carrot, salt, black pepper, egg, and chopped parsley to the bread mixture.
  • Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are evenly combined.

Step 3: Form the Patties

  • Take a handful of the meat mixture and shape it into a patty.
  • Press a small amount of grated cheese into the center, then cover with more meat mixture to seal the cheese inside.
  • Repeat until all the mixture is used.

Step 4: Coat the Patties

  • Place breadcrumbs in a shallow dish.
  • Roll each patty in the breadcrumbs to ensure an even coating.

Step 5: Fry the Patties

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Fry the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 6: Serve

  • Arrange the patties on a serving platter.
  • Garnish with additional chopped parsley for extra flavor and presentation.
  • Serve warm with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes or a crisp salad.

Notes

  • If you prefer baking, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the patties on a lined sheet for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • For extra flavor, try adding paprika or garlic powder to the meat mixture.
  • These patties freeze well. Store uncooked patties in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight before cooking.
