Description
A delicious and easy-to-make Grilled Mozzarella Sandwich that combines fresh mozzarella, basil, and a hint of balsamic glaze for a delightful flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of sourdough bread
- 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon balsamic glaze (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
- Layer the sliced mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the bread.
- Sprinkle the chopped basil over the cheese and season with salt and pepper.
- Drizzle balsamic glaze over the basil, if using.
- Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown.
- Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
Notes
- For a crispy texture, add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese to the outside of the bread before grilling.
- Try adding sliced tomatoes or avocado for extra flavor and nutrition.
