Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Grilled Mozzarella Sandwich that combines fresh mozzarella, basil, and a hint of balsamic glaze for a delightful flavor.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of sourdough bread
  • 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic glaze (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  4. Layer the sliced mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the bread.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped basil over the cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the basil, if using.
  7. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  8. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown.
  9. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
  10. Remove from the skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a crispy texture, add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese to the outside of the bread before grilling.
  • Try adding sliced tomatoes or avocado for extra flavor and nutrition.
