Bring a splash of holiday cheer to your kitchen with these Grinch-Inspired Red Velvet Oreo Truffles. These no-bake treats are made with crushed red velvet Oreos and cream cheese, coated in vibrant green candy melts, and topped with festive sprinkles. Perfect for gifting, holiday parties, or just indulging in a sweet seasonal treat!
Ingredients
- 2 packages (24.4 oz) red velvet Oreos (about 44 cookies)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 15 oz green candy melts (Melt ‘Ems or any preferred brand)
- A few drops of vegetable oil (optional, for thinning the candy coating)
Instructions
1. Make the Oreo Mixture
- Crush the red velvet Oreos in a food processor until they form fine crumbs.
- Reserve 1 tablespoon of crumbs for garnish, if desired.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs with the softened cream cheese. Mix thoroughly until the mixture resembles a smooth, dough-like consistency.
2. Roll Into Balls
- Roll the mixture into bite-sized balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Place the rolled balls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Freeze the balls for 20–30 minutes to firm them up for dipping.
3. Melt the Candy Coating
- Melt the green candy melts according to the package instructions, either in the microwave or using a double boiler.
- If the melted candy coating is too thick, stir in a few drops of vegetable oil to achieve a smoother consistency.
4. Dip and Decorate the Truffles
- Remove the chilled Oreo balls from the freezer.
- Using a fork or a dipping tool, dip each ball into the melted green candy coating, ensuring it is fully covered.
- Tap off any excess coating and place the dipped truffles back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Before the coating sets, sprinkle the reserved Oreo crumbs or holiday-themed sprinkles on top for decoration.
- Allow the truffles to set completely. Refrigerate them for 10–15 minutes to speed up the process.
Notes
- For a thinner and smoother candy coating, mix in a small amount of vegetable oil.
- Only remove a few truffles from the freezer at a time while dipping to keep them firm.
- These truffles can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
