Description

Flaky, buttery croissants filled with savory ham and gooey melted cheese, topped with a tangy Dijon-honey glaze and sprinkled with poppy seeds. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a comforting snack!

Ingredients

For the Croissants:

  • 4 large croissants
  • 8 slices ham
  • 8 slices Leerdammer cheese (or Gruyère, Swiss, or cheddar)

For the Glaze:

  • ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice the Croissants:
    • Carefully slice the croissants in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  • Assemble the Croissants:
    • Layer one slice of cheese on the bottom half of each croissant.
    • Add two slices of ham, then another slice of cheese. Close the croissant halves.
  • Prepare the Glaze:
    • In a small bowl, mix Dijon mustard, honey, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Glaze and Sprinkle:
    • Brush the tops of the croissants generously with the glaze.
    • Sprinkle poppy seeds over the glazed tops.
  • Bake:
    • Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Bake for 6–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden.
  • Serve:
    • Serve warm with a side salad, soup, or fresh fruit for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Use high-quality ham and croissants for the best flavor.
  • For a twist, try adding sautéed spinach, roasted bell peppers, or sliced tomatoes.
  • Keep an eye on the croissants while baking to avoid over-browning.
