Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 180 ml (3/4 cup) milk
  • 10 g (1 tbsp) fresh yeast
  • 500 g (3 1/3 cups) flour
  • 60 g (1/4 cup) butter
  • 30 g (2 tbsp) sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Oil for frying
  • Additional sugar for coating

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: Warm the milk until lukewarm and stir in the yeast. Let it rest until it bubbles. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Beat the eggs and melted butter, then combine with the yeast mixture and dry ingredients. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the Dough: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If sticky, add more flour.
  • Shape the Donuts: Roll dough to 1 cm (1/2 inch) thickness. Use cutters to form donut shapes and place them on a floured tray. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Fry the Donuts: Heat oil to 180°C (350°F). Fry donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  • Coat with Sugar: While warm, roll donuts in sugar to coat them evenly. Serve and enjoy!
