Description
Delicious homemade honey cruller donuts that are light, fluffy, and drizzled with honey.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. The batter will be thick and slightly sticky.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the batter for at least 1 hour to firm up.
- In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F.
- Using a piping bag fitted with a large star tip, pipe the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion to form donuts, about 3 inches in diameter.
- Fry the donuts for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- While the donuts are still warm, drizzle them with honey and dust with powdered sugar.
- Serve immediately or let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a chocolate twist, add 1/4 cup cocoa powder to the dry ingredients.
- Try adding a pinch of lemon zest to the batter for a refreshing citrus flavor.
