A simple and delicious recipe for homemade pizza pockets that are perfect for a quick meal or snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Mix well.
- Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into 4 equal squares.
- On one half of each square, spread about 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and Parmesan cheese.
- Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the toppings.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pizza pockets for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.

- For a vegetarian option, substitute pepperoni with diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach.
