  • Author: Annabel
  • Total Time: 6.5 hours
  • Yield: 50 gummies

Description

Indulge in the sweet, chewy goodness of these homemade sparkly fruit gummies. Perfect for parties, gifts, or simply a fun kitchen project, these glittering treats combine fruity flavors with an irresistible sparkle. Best of all, they’re easy to customize and make at home!

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons unflavored gelatin (approximately 8 packets)
  • 1 ½ cups cold water
  • 2 ¼ cups boiling water
  • 6 cups granulated sugar (plus extra for coating)
  • Fruit extract or flavored oil of your choice (e.g., strawberry, lemon, orange)
  • Food coloring (optional, to match your flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Gelatin Base: Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over 1 ½ cups of cold water in a bowl and let it bloom for 5-10 minute. Meanwhile, bring 2 ¼ cups of water to a boil.
  2. Dissolve the Gelatin: Pour the boiling water over the bloomed gelatin, stirring until completely dissolved.
  3. Sweeten and Flavor the Mixture: Add 6 cups of granulated sugar to the gelatin mixture, stirring until dissolved. Mix in your chosen fruit extract or flavored oil, adjusting to taste. Add food coloring if desired.
  4. Pour and Set: Pour the mixture into silicone molds or a parchment-lined baking dish. Let it cool and set at room temperature for 4-6 hours or refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
  5. Cut and Coat: Remove gummies from molds or cut them into shapes. Roll in granulated sugar for a sparkly finish.

Notes

  • Add Sparkle Later: Coat gummies in sugar just before serving for maximum sparkle.
  • Gelatin Substitution: For a vegan option, use agar-agar, but expect a slightly different texture.
  • Flavor Experimentation: Try mixing extracts for unique flavors like strawberry-lemon or orange-vanilla.
  • Storage Tip: Use parchment paper between layers to prevent gummies from sticking together.
  • Juice Option: Replace water with fruit juice for a naturally fruity twist!
