Description

Honey Walnut Shrimp is a delicious dish featuring crispy shrimp coated in a sweet and creamy honey mayonnaise sauce, topped with toasted walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cooked white rice (for serving)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Add the walnuts and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they are lightly toasted. Remove the walnuts with a slotted spoon and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool. Reserve the syrup in the saucepan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth. Set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked shrimp with the honey mayonnaise mixture. Toss until the shrimp are well coated.
  5. Drizzle some of the reserved syrup over the shrimp and mix gently.
  6. Serve the shrimp over cooked white rice and top with the toasted walnuts and chopped green onions.

Notes

  • For a crunchier texture, consider adding panko breadcrumbs to the shrimp before cooking.
  • Substitute the walnuts with cashews or almonds for a different flavor profile.
