Description
Honey Walnut Shrimp is a delicious dish featuring crispy shrimp coated in a sweet and creamy honey mayonnaise sauce, topped with toasted walnuts.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup walnuts
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups cooked white rice (for serving)
- Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Add the walnuts and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they are lightly toasted. Remove the walnuts with a slotted spoon and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool. Reserve the syrup in the saucepan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked shrimp with the honey mayonnaise mixture. Toss until the shrimp are well coated.
- Drizzle some of the reserved syrup over the shrimp and mix gently.
- Serve the shrimp over cooked white rice and top with the toasted walnuts and chopped green onions.
Notes
- For a crunchier texture, consider adding panko breadcrumbs to the shrimp before cooking.
- Substitute the walnuts with cashews or almonds for a different flavor profile.
