Description

A delicious and spicy twist on traditional mozzarella sticks, coated in crushed Hot Cheetos for an extra kick.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 cup crushed Hot Cheetos
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut each mozzarella cheese stick in half to create shorter sticks. Freeze the cheese sticks for at least 1 hour to help them hold their shape during frying.
  2. In a shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and water. In a third bowl, combine the crushed Hot Cheetos, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Remove the cheese sticks from the freezer. Dredge each stick in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, then coat it in the Hot Cheeto mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat with all cheese sticks.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  5. Carefully add a few cheese sticks to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve immediately with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper to the Hot Cheeto mixture.
  • Try using different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or cheddar, for a unique flavor twist.
