Ingredients

For the Brownie Bread:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup hot fudge sauce
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Fudge Topping:

  • ½ cup hot fudge sauce (warmed)
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
    • Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  2. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, mixing gently.
    • Fold in hot fudge sauce and chocolate chips until just combined.
    • Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  3. Bake the Brownie Bread:
    • Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
    • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  4. Add the Fudge Topping:
    • Drizzle the warm hot fudge sauce over the cooled bread.
    • Sprinkle with additional chocolate chips and nuts if desired.

Notes

  • Use Dutch-process cocoa for a deeper chocolate flavor.
  • Let the bread cool slightly before slicing for the best texture.
  • Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Freezes well for up to 3 months—wrap tightly in plastic before freezing.
