Description
A delicious recipe for crispy and flavorful hot honey shrimp, perfect for a quick meal or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs.
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Dip each shrimp first into the flour mixture, shaking off excess, then into the egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Once hot, carefully add shrimp in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey and hot sauce, stirring until well mixed and warmed through.
- Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the crispy shrimp and toss to coat.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
- For extra crunch, try adding crushed cornflakes to the panko mixture.
- For a sweeter version, increase the honey to 1/3 cup and reduce the hot sauce slightly.
