Description

A delicious recipe for crispy and flavorful hot honey shrimp, perfect for a quick meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the eggs.
  3. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  4. Dip each shrimp first into the flour mixture, shaking off excess, then into the egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  6. Once hot, carefully add shrimp in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey and hot sauce, stirring until well mixed and warmed through.
  9. Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the crispy shrimp and toss to coat.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, try adding crushed cornflakes to the panko mixture.
  • For a sweeter version, increase the honey to 1/3 cup and reduce the hot sauce slightly.
