Incredibly Crunchy Potatoes: A Tasty Delight

  • Author: Annabel
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12–15 patties

Description

These Incredibly Crunchy Potatoes are a must-try for any potato lover! Grated potatoes mixed with smoky cheese, parsley, and flavorful spices are shaped into golden, crispy patties that are crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. They’re perfect as a side dish, snack, or even a light meal that will leave everyone asking for seconds.

Ingredients

  • 67 potatoes (peeled and grated)
  • 80 g smoked cheese, grated
  • 4 tablespoons potato starch
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (as desired)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Paprika, to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and grate them using a coarse grater. Rinse the grated potatoes under cold water to remove excess starch, then drain well. Pat the potatoes dry with a clean kitchen towel to ensure they fry to crispy perfection.
  2. Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes with the grated smoked cheese, potato starch, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute all ingredients.
  3. Form the Potato Patties: Take small portions of the potato mixture and shape them into patties or balls, pressing firmly to hold their shape.
  4. Heat the Oil: Heat a generous amount of oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat until it’s hot but not smoking.
  5. Fry the Potatoes: Fry the patties in small batches, ensuring the pan isn’t overcrowded. Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove the patties from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve: Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired. Pair with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy them as they are!

Notes

  • For a healthier option, bake the patties at 200°C (392°F) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Ensure the oil is hot before frying to prevent the patties from absorbing too much oil.
  • Sweet potatoes can be used as a substitute for regular potatoes for a unique twist.
