Description

Warm, golden, and crispy, Irresistible Banana Fritters with Cinnamon Sugar are a treat that combines sweet, caramelized bananas wrapped in a fluffy dough and coated in spiced cinnamon sugar. Perfect for any occasion, these fritters will become your new favorite dessert or snack!

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (210g)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (15g)
  • 1/2 envelope dry yeast (5g)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (39mL)
  • 1/3 cup warm milk (80mL)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 7 to 10 bananas

For Frying:

  • Enough oil to submerge the fritters

For the Coating:

  • 3/4 cup sugar (135g)
  • Ground cinnamon to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, and dry yeast.
  • Add the egg, vegetable oil, warm milk, and a pinch of salt. Stir well until a smooth and slightly sticky dough forms.
  • Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let the dough rest for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.

2. Prepare the Bananas

  • Peel the bananas and slice them into thick rounds or halves, depending on your preference.

3. Heat the Oil

  • Pour enough oil into a deep frying pan or pot to submerge the fritters.
  • Heat the oil to approximately 350°F (175°C). Test the oil temperature by dropping a small piece of dough into it; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.

4. Coat the Bananas

  • Take small portions of the risen dough and flatten them slightly in your hands.
  • Wrap each piece of dough around a banana slice, ensuring the banana is fully covered.

5. Fry the Fritters

  • Gently lower the dough-covered bananas into the hot oil using a slotted spoon.
  • Fry the fritters in small batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook each side for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

6. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

  • Mix the sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl. Adjust the cinnamon to your taste.
  • While the fritters are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.

7. Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve the banana fritters warm, either on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
  • Enjoy their crispy exterior and sweet, tender interior.

Notes

  • Use Ripe Bananas: Overripe bananas work best, as they are sweeter and softer.
  • Monitor the Oil Temperature: Keep the oil at a consistent 350°F (175°C) for even frying.
  • Serve Fresh: Fritters are best served warm for maximum crispiness.
