Description

A delicious Marinated Salumi Sandwich featuring layers of flavorful meats, cheese, and roasted red peppers, all enhanced by a zesty marinade.

Ingredients

  • 1 large baguette or ciabatta loaf
  • 4 ounces salami, thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces capicola, thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Slice the baguette or ciabatta loaf in half lengthwise and place it on a clean surface.
  3. Brush the cut sides of the bread with the marinade, reserving some for later.
  4. Layer the salami, prosciutto, capicola, and provolone cheese evenly on the bottom half of the bread.
  5. Add the roasted red peppers and fresh basil leaves on top of the cheese.
  6. Drizzle a little more of the marinade over the toppings, then place the top half of the bread on the sandwich.
  7. Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. When ready to serve, slice the sandwich into individual portions and enjoy.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or a spread of spicy mustard inside the sandwich.
  • Substitute the meats with your favorite deli meats or add sliced turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
