Description
Peanut butter truffles are bite-sized, chocolate-coated treats filled with a creamy peanut butter center. These truffles are easy to make and perfect for holidays, gifting, or anytime you crave something sweet and indulgent. With a simple drizzle on top, they look as good as they taste!
Ingredients
For the Peanut Butter Truffles:
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped (or chocolate melting wafers)
For the Peanut Butter Drizzle (Optional):
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions
-
Prepare the Peanut Butter Filling:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and creamy peanut butter until smooth.
- Add the vanilla extract and gradually mix in the powdered sugar until a thick, dough-like consistency forms.
-
Shape the Truffles:
- Scoop out small portions of the peanut butter mixture (about 1-inch each) and roll into balls.
- Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 15–20 minutes until firm.
-
Coat in Chocolate:
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 20-second increments and stirring until smooth.
- Remove the truffle balls from the freezer and dip each into the melted chocolate using a fork. Let the excess chocolate drip off before placing the truffles back onto the parchment paper.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes to allow the chocolate coating to set.
-
Add the Peanut Butter Drizzle (Optional):
- Mix the creamy peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to a piping bag or plastic bag with a small tip cut off, and drizzle over the truffles in a decorative pattern.
- Return the truffles to the refrigerator to set the drizzle.
-
Serve and Store:
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container. Truffles can be refrigerated for up to 1 week or frozen for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- For a saltier twist, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of the truffles before the chocolate sets.
- Use a double boiler instead of a microwave to melt the chocolate if you prefer more control over the heating process.
- Experiment with toppings like crushed nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut to customize the truffles.
- For vegan-friendly truffles, use dairy-free butter and chocolate alternatives.
