Description

Celebrate Easter with these delightful Puff Pastry Easter Nests! Buttery, flaky pastry is filled with creamy Nutella and topped with pastel-colored mini chocolate eggs, creating an irresistible treat. Perfect for Easter brunch, dessert platters, or a fun baking activity with kids, these nests bring a touch of magic and nostalgia to your holiday celebration.

Ingredients

For the Pastry Nests:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade, thawed if frozen)
  • 100g Nutella (or melted chocolate)
  • 1 egg (lightly whisked for egg wash)

For the Toppings:

  • 80g mini chocolate eggs (Cadbury or similar)
  • 12 teaspoons chocolate icing (or extra Nutella)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pastry:
    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C Fan, Gas Mark 6).
    • Roll out the puff pastry and spread Nutella over half. Fold the pastry in half and cut into strips.
  2. Shape the Nests:
    • Twist each strip and coil it into a circular nest shape, leaving space in the center for the chocolate eggs.
  3. Bake to Golden Perfection:
    • Place the nests on a lined baking sheet. Brush with egg wash for a golden finish.
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  4. Decorate & Serve:
    • Allow the nests to cool slightly before adding a teaspoon of chocolate icing or extra Nutella in the center.
    • Place mini chocolate eggs on top and serve warm.

Notes

  • Swap Nutella for melted white or dark chocolate, caramel, or fruit preserves for different variations.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for a crisp texture.
  • Freeze baked nests (without toppings) for up to 3 months. Reheat before adding chocolate and mini eggs.
  • For a dairy-free option, use dairy-free puff pastry and chocolate spread.
