Ingredients
For the Pastry Nests:
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade, thawed if frozen)
- 100g Nutella (or melted chocolate)
- 1 egg (lightly whisked for egg wash)
For the Toppings:
- 80g mini chocolate eggs (Cadbury or similar)
- 12 teaspoons chocolate icing (or extra Nutella)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pastry:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C Fan, Gas Mark 6).
- Roll out the puff pastry and spread Nutella over half. Fold the pastry in half and cut into strips.
- Shape the Nests:
- Twist each strip and coil it into a circular nest shape, leaving space in the center for the chocolate eggs.
- Bake to Golden Perfection:
- Place the nests on a lined baking sheet. Brush with egg wash for a golden finish.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
- Decorate & Serve:
- Allow the nests to cool slightly before adding a teaspoon of chocolate icing or extra Nutella in the center.
- Place mini chocolate eggs on top and serve warm.
Notes
- Swap Nutella for melted white or dark chocolate, caramel, or fruit preserves for different variations.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for a crisp texture.
- Freeze baked nests (without toppings) for up to 3 months. Reheat before adding chocolate and mini eggs.
- For a dairy-free option, use dairy-free puff pastry and chocolate spread.
