Description
Savory Onion Beef Fried Rice is a flavor-packed weeknight dinner that combines ground beef, vegetables, and rice for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked white rice (preferably day-old)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots mix
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 3 green onions, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Once hot, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of cooking oil. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the frozen peas and carrots mix and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Scramble the eggs until fully cooked, then mix them with the vegetables.
- Add the cooked rice to the skillet along with the cooked ground beef. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil. Stir everything together until well combined and heated through, about 3-5 minutes.
- Finally, stir in the sliced green onions and adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of sriracha or chili paste while cooking the beef.
- Substitute ground beef with chicken, shrimp, or tofu for a different protein option.
