Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined.
- Add the milk, vanilla extract, salt, and nutmeg and cinnamon (if using) to the egg mixture. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture into a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
- Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan and fill the outer pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the custard dish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a creamier texture, use half-and-half instead of whole milk.
- Try adding a splash of almond extract for a different flavor profile.
