Ingredients
- 4 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

- Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt over the apples. Stir well to coat the apples evenly.
- Drizzle the lemon juice over the mixture and continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until the apples are tender and caramelized.
- If using, stir in the chopped pecans and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve warm, either on their own or over vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a splash of vanilla extract while cooking.
- Substitute the Granny Smith apples with Honeycrisp or Fuji apples for a sweeter taste.
