Description

Delicious and flaky Spinach and Feta Puff Pastry Twists filled with a creamy cheese mixture and fresh spinach.

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chopped spinach, feta cheese, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry to smooth out creases. Cut each sheet into 6 equal rectangles.
  4. Spoon a generous amount of the spinach and cheese mixture onto one half of each rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges. Fold the other half over the filling and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  5. Twist each filled pastry gently to create a spiral effect and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier twist, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • You can substitute the spinach with kale or Swiss chard for a different flavor profile.
