Description
Delicious and flaky Spinach and Feta Puff Pastry Twists filled with a creamy cheese mixture and fresh spinach.
Ingredients
- 2 sheets of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped spinach, feta cheese, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry to smooth out creases. Cut each sheet into 6 equal rectangles.
- Spoon a generous amount of the spinach and cheese mixture onto one half of each rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges. Fold the other half over the filling and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Twist each filled pastry gently to create a spiral effect and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier twist, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
- You can substitute the spinach with kale or Swiss chard for a different flavor profile.
