Ingredients
For the Ribs:
- 3 lbs pork ribs
- 1 tsp salt
For the Honey Garlic Glaze:
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup coconut aminos
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ribs
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- If necessary, remove the thin membrane on the back of the ribs. This ensures the ribs become tender and absorb the flavors.
- Pat the ribs dry with paper towels, then sprinkle them evenly with 1 teaspoon of salt.
2. Bake the Ribs
- Lay the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
- Cover the ribs with another sheet of foil, sealing the edges tightly to trap steam.
- Bake the ribs for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and can easily pull away from the bone.
3. Make the Honey Garlic Glaze
- While the ribs are baking, combine honey, coconut aminos, apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a saucepan.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it begins to simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the glaze simmer for 10–15 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Set aside.
4. Glaze and Caramelize the Ribs
- When the ribs are tender, remove them from the oven and discard the top foil.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Brush the ribs generously with the honey garlic glaze, coating both sides thoroughly.
- Return the ribs to the oven, uncovered, and bake for 15–20 minutes. Baste with more glaze halfway through to ensure a sticky, caramelized finish.
5. Serve
- Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing into individual ribs.
- Serve hot with any remaining glaze for dipping. Garnish with fresh parsley or sesame seeds for added flair.
Notes
- Membrane Removal: Removing the membrane ensures the ribs absorb flavors and stay tender.
- Storage: Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
- Adjust Sweetness: Reduce the honey if you prefer a tangier glaze or add a bit more vinegar for extra zest.
- Make It Spicy: Add chili flakes or sriracha to the glaze for a spicy variation.
- Alternative Cooking Method: Try slow-cooking the ribs in a crockpot for 6–8 hours on low before glazing and broiling.
