Description

A delicious recipe for stuffed baked mussels, also known as Baked Tahong, featuring a savory breadcrumb topping.


Ingredients

  • 12 large mussels, cleaned and shells separated
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, melted butter, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  3. Place the cleaned mussel shells on a baking sheet. Spoon the breadcrumb mixture generously onto each mussel half.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider mixing in some cooked and crumbled bacon or chopped cooked shrimp into the stuffing mixture.
